Summary This position is located with Birch Hill Ski & Snowboard Area on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Up to 25% recruitment and/or retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week. Responsibilities Instructs groups and individuals in daily and weekly ski programs, using a variety of teaching methods to effectively communicate to students who have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Teaches children as well as adults. Ensures proper safety procedures are followed at all times and that students learn in a safe environment. Is responsible for ticket handling for groups of students and must maintain good internal control practices to keep track of these tickets. Assists with program registration, equipment issue, ski lift, and cleaning duties. May be involved in designing, building and maintaining the snowboarding course, by building jumps and installing rails, using hand tools. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Must be an advanced skier/snowboarder with the ability to teach others. Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification within 6 months of hire. Highly Preferred: Candidates that possess highly preferred criteria and meet the minimum qualifications above will be referred to the hiring manager first. Criteria is verified within the application package. Possess knowledge in building and maintaining snowboarding course. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid. Up to 25% recruitment and/or retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
