This candidate will have a passion for helping older adults embrace technology and an understanding of their unique learning needs. The instructor will provide hands-on guidance in using smartphones, computers, tablets, and various software applications, helping seniors gain confidence and independence in a digital world. This position involves delivering group lessons, one-on-one sessions, and troubleshooting common tech issues in a supportive and friendly environment. Schedule: + Varying hours within Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. + Approximately 10-15 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: + Create and plan course curriculum, develop materials, and design programs for ongoing use by the City. + Deliver high-quality classes to participants, fostering an engaging and inclusive environment. + Promote activities by writing class descriptions, creating flyers, and assisting with marketing. + Drive a city or personal vehicle to meetings, training sessions, and events. Includes operating a 15-passenger van. + Support festivals and other events as needed. Qualifications: + Required: + Strong knowledge of common technology, including smartphones, computers, tablets, software applications, and internet usage. + Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language. + Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others learn and grow. + Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners. + Familiarity with online platforms for remote teaching, such as Zoom, Skype, or other video conferencing tools (if applicable). + Ability to troubleshoot common tech problems and provide effective solutions. + High school diploma or GED. + At least two years of instruction or customer service experience. + Certifications required for teaching specific classes (if applicable). + CPR/AED certification (must obtain within 60 days of hire; City-paid). + Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. + Preferred: + Previous experience working with the 50-plus community or teaching technology. + General Parks and Recreation experience. + Familiarity with Canva or other design tools. Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour. Physical and Environmental Factors: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. This position requires the ability to lift and move supplies and materials for recreation programs, activities, and events. Visual acuity is needed for reviewing information. During special events, long periods of standing with limited breaks may be required. Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
