Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Activities)
Summary ***Announcement amended to extend closing date*** About the position: This position will be assigned to the Scott AFB Outdoor Recreation.. This is a Regular Full Time Position 35-40 hours per week. Responsibilities Assists in the efficient and effective operation of a diverse and comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Program including, but not limited to biking, camping, canoeing, ice skating, kayaking, paintball, rock climbing, scuba diving, skiing, skydiving, snowboarding, swimming, white water rafting and overnight recreational trips. Promotes base resource and wildlife conservation through example and program education. Research, orders, and maintains all outdoor recreation equipment. Assists in the planning, organizing, promoting, and execution of outdoor recreation programs, maintaining outdoor recreation facilities and various recreational areas within established Air Force, command, and base policies and objectives. Provides support of the Outdoor Recreation facilities and associated programs which include a Fam Camp, picnic area, recreational vehicle storage lot, archery range, swimming pool, equipment rental and retail sales operation. Operates cash register as required. Maintains records on programs and equipment. Arranges for supplies, equipment, and services necessary to accomplish planned activities. Participates in programs and trains participants and volunteers. Accompanies participants on trips, as required. Operates passenger vans and buses to transport participants on trips and outings. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Breadth of experience, equivalent of NF-II level, that demonstrated ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Experience such as assisting in the planning and execution of an outdoor recreation programmer or responsibility for a large segment of such a program is considered qualifying. Skill or equivalent in planning, coordination, and organizing outdoor recreation program activities. Skill in or equivalent effective management of financial and physical resources and budget preparation. Must possess a practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational equipment, rules and procedures in the areas in which the position is assigned. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
