Human Resource Contact: Tammy / 307-335-6784 / tammalee.keysaw1@wyo.gov ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level. + Provide daily leisure and recreational activity-based opportunities to each person served. + Provide physical, cognitive, and sensory-based activities based on individual needs. + Plan, organize, prompt,e and evaluate the program and activities. + Visit resident homes to evaluate levels of engagement. + Assist individuals in areas of care, such as repositioning, ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), etc. + Complete in-depth assessments of each resident and provide specific materials of interest to residents for meaningful life activity pursuits. + Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team on approaches for resident-improved quality of life. Attend care plan meetings. + Complete all activity-related MDS (Minimum Data Set) sections and chart progress notes into the electronic health record. + Ensure programs meet federal and state regulations and are safe and appropriate for residents in ICF and SNF. + Stay current in individual behavior programs, dietary orders, and required training. + Acquire and gather necessary supplies, equipment, and funds. Manage activities budgets and ensure fiscal accountability. + Maintain a calendar of recreational activities available both on the grounds and in the community. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants who hold registration/licensure as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or an Activities Professional. Consideration may be given to those who complete the required training programs to be eligible for registration/licensure. KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of recreational practices, principles, and procedures. + Knowledge of ICF and SNF regulations. + Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner both verbally and in writing. + Skills in time management and problem-solving. + Skills in behavior management. + Ability to use a computer and software applications. + Ability to develop assessments and provide documentation and tracking. + Knowledge of and ability to effectively use infection control practices. + Ability to recognize when first aid is needed and correctly administered. + Ability to recognize health concerns and take the proper course of action. + Knowledge of the benefits and limitations of each individual served. + Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Recreation Therapy) Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in recreational therapy) OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in recreational therapy) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities. + Ability to monitor sounds, noises, location of residents, etc., to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns. + Ability to work alone and/or with multiple residents. + Requires skills in crisis management and the ability to intervene in a resident behavioral crisis. NOTES: + FLSA: Non-exempt + Successful candidate will be required to pass and maintain CNA licensure. + The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. Please note that we do not use this information to pre-screen job applicants. + This position will be assigned to work in our Skilled Nursing Facility. + A background check, including fingerprinting, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant. + Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions.
