The Program 

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Program is an established program run by the UN and other multilateral organisations to provide young professionals with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation and international development. JPOs are sponsored under bilateral agreements between respective multilateral organisations and participating Governments for two to three-year assignments that vary based on country-specific, regional, sector-based or thematic priorities. JPOs are typically under 35 years of age and are recruited as professional staff members by their respective governments, who serve as the sponsors of their positions within the organisation. 

 

The Role 

As a Recruitment Support Officer for the JPO Program, you will provide ongoing support in all aspects of JPO recruitment activity. These include: 

Application processing; be a primary program contact for The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and JPO applicants 

Shortlisting of applications; review applications, undertake eligibility checks and establish recommended shortlist of candidates 

Supporting the interview panels; liaise with shortlisted candidates to set up interview schedules and provide high quality scribing services 

Providing feedback to unsuccessful candidates 

Establish an alumni network, ensuring ongoing management, in collaboration with DFAT 

Developing and maintaining a talent pool in consultation with DFAT. 

 

Additional key responsibilities include: 

Managing the JPO email address and respond to any queries as required 

Update spreadsheets and other tracking mechanisms for review by the JPO Program panels 

Attending meetings and taking notes of Selection Assessment Committee (SAC) Panels 

Preparing and submitting SAC reports to DFAT 

Conducting a series of JPO Program surveys, preparing reports on the outcomes in collaboration with DFAT 

Assisting the DFAT JPO team for other JPO related matters as required. 

 

About you 

You will have previous experience in recruitment support services, or HR administration and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and reporting skills, including interview scribing and note taking. You will have worked with HR systems and understand how recruitment processes work.  

 

Additional key requirements include: 

Has a minimum qualification at a tertiary level in a field related to Human Resources, Project Management, Business Administration or similar; 

Demonstrated experience in the establishment and maintenance of productive relationships with external clients; 

Strong inter-personal, inter-cultural skills, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills;  

Ability to protect confidential information, multi-task and be able to work independently when needed, as well as being a team player; 

High-level proficiency in Word, Excel and other Microsoft programs including SharePoint;
