Come be part of the team responsible for managing the world’s largest corporate portfolio of renewable energy contracts! The Energy Procurement Operations (EPO) team manages AWS’ energy supply contracts post execution, monitors portfolio performance, provides controllership for energy spend, tracks environmental attributes towards our sustainability goals, and ensures our energy supply portfolio is compliant with regulations, obligations and policies.

We are looking for an individual to manage our Environmental Attributes Certificates (EACs) portfolio, including Renewable Energy Certificates (“RECs”), Guarantees of Origin (“GoOs”) and their equivalents - globally. The right candidate is experienced with managing environmental attributes, optimizing their allocation to progress towards decarbonization goals, and experience executing transactions in the major exchanges/registries (US and global). In addition, the candidate has managed projects with broad cross-functional teams across business units, designed and implemented business processes, defined and reported performance metrics, and holds an analytical skill set.
Function Specific Work Activities:
• Define and own EAC allocation methods and activities to deliver against our sustainability goals and third-party/regulatory commitments (such as state RPS).
• Establish and maintain portfolio balance-sheet with enhanced modeling and scenario-analysis, informing allocation, retirement and procurement decisions across Amazon business units.
• Report and analyze portfolio performance in collaboration with other teams, identifying impacts to our business units and our customers.
• Act as a subject matter expert on RECs frameworks, schemes and transactions.
• Track and allocate/retire RECs across the global portfolio, while establishing and launching a programmatic strategy for doing so at scale.
• Support the management of the on-boarding process for new contracts across geographies, including REC registry account setup and other activities to ensure overall readiness for transaction.
• Support the management of renewable power purchase agreements globally. Support the management of the contractual obligations with counterparties.
• Support settlements activities, including reconciliations, issue resolution and overall transaction controllership.
• Plan and drive execution of initiatives to improve our operations. Continuously seek to invent and simplify to generate the scale effect for Amazon’s management of its energy portfolio.
• Work collaboratively with other Amazon teams to support the management of the energy programs.


Key job responsibilities
- Own the assigned portfolio of energy agreements and renewable power purchase agreements.
- Act as a subject matter expert on executed energy agreements in designated markets, and own the management of the contractual obligations with counterparties.
- Report and analyze performance in assigned portfolio, identifying impacts to our business units and our customers.
- Support the management of the on-boarding process for new contracts with a large number of counterparties. Track progress and drive for successful completion.
- Take part in shaping and implement the EPO programs (including contract management, financial performance and energy compliance with external and internal stakeholders) to meet the org’s goals and success metrics.
- Plan and drive execution of initiatives to improve our energy operations. Continuously seek to invent and simplify in order to achieve further scale effect for Amazon’s management of its energy portfolio.
- Work collaboratively with other AWS and Amazon teams to support the management of the energy programs.
