The Linux Systems Engineer will be mission, team, and detail oriented. They will serve a customer that requires a high level of understanding of objectives and goals. They will support a customer that is project focused in an ever changing IT environment with technology and security on the forefront of their minds. The right candidate will be articulate in recommendations for solutions and provide a high level of operation and maintenance support for the Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu servers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• On-Site Position**
• Administration of RedHat Linux computing environment to include but not limited to:
o Installations
o Updating
o Patching
o Removing
o Troubleshooting
o Repairing
o Maintenance
• Persons in this position will also be responsible for backup and recovery functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Must have and/or maintain:
• Current Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) OR Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• Experience with Linux on a virtualized platform.
o Nutanix is preferred.
o VMWare
o Microsoft Hyper-V) is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands are related to the requirement of racking and stacking servers from time to time, walking to check servers and their health and working with other System Engineers for overall successful datacenter operations. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work as a part of a small team to manage the Linux environment with characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

 

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. May be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Must have or be eligible for security clearances. May require occasional travel.
