Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Obtain authorizations from insurance companies to assist patients in the referral process. As a Team Lead, the employee will assist with overseeing the department including managing attendance, delegating tasks, coordinating new hire training and communicating with offices. The Team Lead is responsible for supporting Referral Coordinators in completing tasks and meeting productivity goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Referral Coordinators

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: (This list may not include all the duties that may be assigned).

1. Participate in new hire interview process, coordinate training schedules and assist in completing two week review, 30-day review, 60-day review, 90-day review

2. Communicate with IT Support to ensure that all new hires receive their equipment/access on time and support resolution of IT issues for team members

3. Assist with bi-weekly payroll reporting including daily review of attendance, absences, tardiness in Shifts App

4. Oversight of the department calendar to ensure adequate coverage

5. Delegate tasks to team members and support employee development by monitoring team members’ daily performance and productivity.

6. Communicate updates, workflow changes and departmental goals with team members

7. Collaborate with supervisor to meet departmental goals and resolve issues

8. Obtain authorizations for all referral requests received as assigned

9. Review and understand documentation required by insurance companies to obtain authorization, including clinical notes, lab results, consult notes

10. Accurately document referral details, including status, authorization dates, authorization number, specialist/facility and other relevant information per policy

11. Effectively communicate updates in referral status with patients, clinicians and office site staff and interact professionally with specialists/facilities and insurance plan representatives 

12. Remain current with health plan, specialist and company requirements, including prioritization of preferred specialist/facility, productivity and quality standards

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Higher degree will be appreciated.

Location: Monterrey, Mexico

Experience: 1-2 years experience preferred. Must be detail-oriented and able to efficiently complete a high-volume of tasks using many different sources. Excellent documentation skills required.
