Referral/Pre-certification Specialist-Physician Office-Piedmont Ortho

Job Responsibilities:

Obtains Precertification/ Authorization and benefits for all therapy patients.

Assigns therapy appointments to the referral for accurate benefit tracking

Work incoming therapy referral work queue.

Calls/sends My chart messaging to scheduling patients

Monitors department volume and move patients up to avoid delays in care.

Monitors CXL List

Confirms upcoming appointments.

Creates interpreter requests as needed.

Verifies insurance and ensures appointments are registered correctly.

Assists patients to go to other facilities if needed including faxing orders to other facility.

Addresses Epic messages from department scheduling pools assisting with patient access.

Manages Outlook email.

Manages incoming and outgoing faxes for department

Answers Therapy Department Phone Line- incoming calls and voicemail.

Work wait list for therapy department to maintain high fill rate.

Any other items related to clerical assistance in department success and patient care.

Employment Qualifications

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  2 years’ experience in a medical office setting required.  Ability to operate office equipment to include computer, fax machine and copiers, and familiarity with practice management and EMR systems. Knowledge of medical terminology.
