POSITION SUMMARY:
The St. Paul Park Refining Division located in St. Paul Park, MN, is seeking a Maintenance Refining Instrument and Electrical Planner. This position is responsible for supporting maintenance E&I shop with troubleshooting and repair scope for E&I equipment, developing detailed job plans, ordering material and/or equipment to effectively execute the routine maintenance work in a safe and economical manner. The Planner coordinates between Operations and Maintenance to effectively plan, schedule, and execute the work.
Other duties and projects will be assigned. The work schedule is a 4 10-hr week schedule Monday-Thursday, including some weekends and holidays. Occasional extra hours may be required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans the coordination of maintenance projects regarding alterations, repairs, construction, and services.Develops and recommends to operating foremen maintenance techniques to ensure optimum unit operating conditions.In cooperation with refining engineers develops the scope and purpose of unit alterations and construction projects.Inspects assigned area to detect facilities and equipment that may need replacement or repair and reports findings to operating foremen.Examines metal inspection reports and recommends corrective operating maintenance procedures.Plans and coordinates the development of work orders with operating unit foremen for facilities in assigned area.Consults engineers to obtain preliminary estimates of proposed projects and engineering procedures.Reviews work orders for proper authorization, priority, completeness, accuracy and determines craft skills needed, sequence of work to be performed and estimates man hours, material, tools, and equipment needed.Maintains close liaison with scheduler and operating foremen on daily projects and reports any deviations or interruptions.Consults engineers prior to any field changes in design, or specifications and requests changes in procedure to complete work.Inspects completed work, obtains operating unit foreman's approval and returns signed work orders to scheduler.Keeps abreast of the latest maintenance methods and techniques and equipment used.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)5 years’ experience as maintenance electrical or instrument craftsperson in refining/petrochemical or other related heavy industry OR bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.Must be able to read & comprehend P&IDs, Equipment Drawings, Electrical One-lines and schematics, Inspection Testing, Loop Sheets and Instrument Spec Sheets. Strong instrumentation knowledge and experience in Honeywell TDC3000, analyzers, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical controls, preferably in the Refining, petrochemical or similar industries.Computer Proficiencies:
Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeExperience with SAP or equivalentExperience planning maintenance activities and creating job plansAdditional Skills:
Mechanical aptitude of exchangers, piping, vessels, towers, and other mechanical refinery equipment. Strong organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsMust be able to provide on-call support as requiredFamiliarity with refinery equipment codes & standardsAble to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the fieldAble to support planned/unplanned Turnarounds, Shutdowns, and Major Maintenance Events as requiredMust be a pro-active, self-started, detailed oriented with the ability to identify areas that need improvement.Preferred:
