Our sustained investment in research, development, and invention means we’re always ready to solve the toughest challenges alongside our customers. **Role Purpose** The successful candidate would work in the Advanced Optics (AO) Development group of the Science and Technology Division. Advanced Optics is a global leader in providing cutting-edge material and optical solutions that serve a variety of commercial markets including semiconductor manufacturing and aerospace and defense. The intersection of optics with novel glass materials has created unique opportunities to expand our markets. The individual as the Program Manager will broadly lead and advance technology, commercial and manufacturing initiatives related to the Reflective Optics business, within the Inspection Optics and Metrology segment. The articulation of technology and commercial strategy, and execution of workstreams related to product and process development, engineering and scale-up, will be vital to the launch and success of the Reflective Optics program. The Program Manager will lead a matrixed team of cross-functional individuals in various sites, including Corning and Fairport. This is a very interdisciplinary role, and the individual will also work closely with other functions such as Technology Community, Product-line Marketing, Division Engineering, and Manufacturing. The person is expected to have broad technical skills in optics, materials and process development. In addition, the individual is expected to have excellent presentation and communication skills. **Day-to-Day Responsibilities** **Technology:** + Work with the D&E teams to advance capabilities in EUV/Reflective optical finishing, cleanliness, and coatings/A&T + Provide technical direction and roadmaps for capability-development based on industry trends + Expand product and process knowledge-base in Reflective optics + Leverage Corning’s materials expertise and developments to advance the value prop for Reflective optics components and assemblies + Align technology strategy with overall business direction, including external partnerships and M&A options + Allocate and manage D&E funding for the program; provide a view on long-term spending and resource requirements **Commercial:** + Collaborate with the commercial/account teams to deepen customer relationships in the area of EUV/Reflective optics + Work with commercial technology to outline the markets and segments for Reflective optics, including but not limited to actinic EUV wavelength + Support PLM in developing business strategy and business case for Reflective optics components and assemblies + Support key customer and partner interactions, and internal executive presentations **Manufacturing** + Outline short-term (pilot-plant) and long-term manufacturing strategies + Articulate process architecture consistent with capability requirements and cost targets + Collaborate with manufacturing to develop CTQ metrics and relevant metrology strategy **Required Education and Experiences** + Ph.D. degree in Optical Physics, Experimental or Applied Physics with 10-15 years of relevant experience of leading innovation programs/projects. Or MS degree with 15-20 years of experience + Deep understanding of optics and materials and light/matter interaction + Refractive, reflective and catadioptric optical designs and tradeoffs + Design of optical and functional surfaces and coatings, and related equipment and metrology/characterization + Integration of optical components in systems, and recognition of relevant opto-mechanical and reliability challenges + Ability to lead matrixed, cross-functional teams in an emerging business segment + Experience with setting and executing technology, business and manufacturing strategies and roadmaps + Understanding of business financials, including P&L and ROI + Ability to work with external entities (customers, partners, etc.) and key internal stakeholders + Willingness to collaborate with the commercial team to develop value proposition, generate white papers, and support technical interactions with customers + Understanding of process and product CTQ’s and requirements for scaling to engineering and manufacturing + Solid organization skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (written and oral) + Demonstrated track record of cross-functional collaboration and delivery of innovative technologies + Experienced in technology interactions with customers, with ability to form deep professional relationships + Ability to develop value proposition based on technical evaluation **Desired Skills** + Strong technical curiosity, problem-solving skills, and desire to seek out answers and solutions + Versed in application of optics to various industries such as semiconductor fabrication, automotive sensors, displays, and consumer electronics devices + Understanding of cleanliness requirements for processing and assembly of materials and components + Stay abreast of technical trends and developments in the industry by attending appropriate trade-shows and conferences **This position supports immigration sponsorship.** The range for this position is $183,877.00 - $252,831.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
