The Staff Instrument Controls (IC) Engineer will execute Instrument and Controls Engineering design activities for minor to major scale controls only and EPC ammonia refrigeration projects in food, beverages and cold storage industrial facilities. Responsible for providing Controls Systems and Instrumentation design deliverables for the project(s) in the front end, detailed design, construction, and start-up phases. This role will include developing programming automation and control systems involving PLCs (programmable logic controllers) for PLC supervisory control systems in the industrial refrigeration segment.
Prepare instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, Instrument Data Sheets, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Location Plans, Wiring Diagrams, and Loop Diagrams.Prepare control systems (DCS and/or PLC) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) Data Sheets.Prepare controls design deliverables, including I/O list, Process Control Narratives, Graphic Sketches, Cause Effect Diagrams, Alarm Rationalization, and manage third party control system suppliers to comply with the control system design requirements, including participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).Prepare IC purchase specifications, review bids, make technical recommendations and manage the overall purchase, review of IC packages, and review of vendor documentation.Develop PID's for various projects.Perform process measurements such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting appropriate IC application.Perform preliminary sizing calculations for instruments such as orifice plates, controls valves, relief valves, and thermowells.Develop level sketches in conjunction with multiple departments.Responsible for applying knowledge of commonly used IC engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry.Provide leadership and guidance for less experienced engineers.Responsible for compliance with company and project site safety policies.Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standards
