Refrigeration Technician
Job Description Description:

 

JOB PURPOSE
Operates and maintains stationary AHU and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, frequency variable drive. Perform all duties with strict observance to cGMP's, OSHA, EPA, EQB, ASHARE PRASA and other regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for installing climate-control systems.

Performing preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems is another primary duty of a Refrigeration Technician.

Perform routine inspection of existing equipment, such as compressors, condensers, electrical connections and motor operations

They need to be knowledgeable about all components of these systems, read blueprints and schematics, understand compliance standards, know local building codes and apply welding and soldering techniques as required.

Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition.

Schedule PMs and service orders with business partner and initiate work orders, house requisitions and orders from stock

Detect equipment / machinery malfunctions and make repairs; clean and provide maintenance to equipment’s.

Maintain clean and organized area when performing repairs and maintenance.

Maintain the motor (mechanical) rooms in adequate conditions, cleaned and organized.

Monitor, maintain and provide technical support to all related HVAC/ AHU and refrigeration related equipment.

Maintains and prepares all record data forms, logs and gages readings.

Generates and own reports like Extraordinary Maintenance Reports (EMR) and simple investigations.

Knowledge in Operation Interface Terminal, BMS like Metasys, equipment controls and VFD

Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems.

Operates the Interface Terminal.

Willing to work at any shift, holidays, shutdowns and during Plant emergencies.



Communicate effectively and participate of meetings when required, through the different organization level
Assists to the require training when requested by area supervisor, according to training needs analysis.

Capable of interpreting data and charts.

Able to work within minimum supervision, handle critical situations and make decisions when required.

Be proactive and self-starter; able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Team worked oriented.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in refrigeration. Understanding the operations of commercial and residential refrigeration systems. Diagnosing malfunctions and defects in equipment Reading blueprints and electrical and electronic schematic. Grasping electrical and plumbing concepts Operating tools, gauges and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems Computer knowledge.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, percent and interpret bar graphs (with the appropriate training).

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, EXAMS
cGMP's Training, refrigeration License, HAZWOPER Training (annually), Physical Exams (Annually), Treatment Plant License; Pulmonary Exam (annually); use of fire extinguisher training; Toxic Spill Training; Hearing Exam (annually); Vision Exam (annually); and other trainings, certificates, licenses and registrations that the immediate supervisor refers.

COMPANY REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Observes and promotes company security, industrial hygiene, cGMP's, internal and external standards of regulatory agencies, procedures and other security measures already established by the company; should inform any violation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear (motor coordination -eye, foot, hand-). The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with the safety equipment that the Company provides). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; rotating equipment and mechanical parts in motion; height, precarious, concinnated places (sump, tanks); fumes or airborne particles; hazardous chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat (such as: hot water and steam); risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

HEALTH or SAFETY FEATURES
The employee should approve all medical exams (annually) to perform all related duties with the position. Incumbents with lung disease or asthma disease should inform the problem to the Occupational Doctor to perform the adequate reasonable accommodation.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT and/or EQUIPMENT
The incumbent must use the proper equipment in any Baxter area to comply with Company policies, and any internal or external regulation; or policy (eg. safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety gloves, chemical dress coat, Apron, rubber boots, hardness, face mask, safety belts, etc.). While performing this job the incumbent must use: hand tools, metal ladders, hand trucks, hydraulic lift, hydrometer, calculator, computer, digital machinery levels or parameters.
