Refrigeration Technician

Perform preventive maintenance procedures on all facilities and facilities equipment in regards but not limited to electrical, mechanical industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. Candidate will work with electromechanical technician to quickly diagnose problems and prevent excessive down time throughout all plant operations. Candidate is expected to help direct, train, and support the maintenance mechanic positions.

Essential Duties:

\n\nObserves and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.\nDismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.\nReplaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces parts.\nAssembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.\nTroubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and high-pressure air systems, including boilers and RO units.\nTroubleshoots and repairs industrial and commercial HVAC systems including but not limited to AC Roof-top package units, Ice Machines, Evaporative Coolers, and exhaust fans.\nWorks closely with the Contracted Maintenance Provider for the on-going maintenance program of all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration systems for the facility.\nMonitor, report, and document the usage and replacement of equipment and parts.\nPerforms preventive maintenance on facility; plumbing, and electrical.\nMaintain a safe working environment at all times. Report possible safety concerns to lead or supervisor.\nClean work areas as needed and at end of day. Return equipment and tools to shop at end of day. Strong working knowledge of Freon refrigeration systems.\nUnderstands operation and function of ammonia refrigeration systems.\nProficient in the reading and understanding of control and electrical wiring diagrams.\nKnowledge of AC/DC current, line voltage and low voltage such as 3PH, 480V, 277V, 240V, 12V and transformers for equipment and the building.\nAble to perform routine plumbing, welding, soldering and electrical tasks as assigned.\nAble to monitor, report and document the usage and replacement of spare parts.\nStrong working knowledge of standards associated with HVAC systems and the PSM/RMP requirements for ammonia systems.\nAble to operate metalworking machines, such as punch press, and drill press to fabricate parts as needed.\nAble to use electrical meter to test assembled instruments for circuit continuity and operational reliability.\nWaste water management experience is preferred.\nMust be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures on a variety of equipment maintenance tasks, and work under general, yet limited, supervision.\nTeam player able to work safely with co-workers.\n\n

Qualifications:

\n\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred; three to five years equivalent combination of education and experience.\nMechanical, electrical, and general maintenance experience in a distribution center or industrial environment targeting one or more of the following: HVAC, electronic/electrical installation and equipment diagnosis, and facilities maintenance.\nRETA certification or equivalent for ammonia systems and Freon refrigeration.\nMust be able to frequently reach up to 31-77 inches.\n\n
