Job Profile: Refrigeration Technician
Location: Arkema Site, Calvert City, Kentucky
Position Overview: The Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low-temperature process refrigeration machines and chillers at the Arkema site in Calvert City, Kentucky. The successful candidate will work closely with process supervisors to understand and meet the refrigeration needs of various processes, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair low-temperature process refrigeration machines and chillers, including Frick, York, and Vilter systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID drawings. Communicate effectively with process supervisors to understand refrigeration requirements. Understand the properties and characteristics of various refrigerants (e.g., R-404, R-507, R-134a, R-22) under different pressures and temperatures. Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems, working with factory representatives for software updates as needed. Maintain accurate records and utilize computer skills for documentation and reporting. Safely work with 120-volt controls, 480-volt, and 4160-volt electrical equipment. Use all necessary tools to maintain refrigeration units in a chemical plant environment. Follow all plant safety rules, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements.Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience with low-temperature process refrigeration machines and chillers. Experience with Frick, York, and Vilter systems is a plus. Competent in reading and understanding electrical schematics and P&ID drawings. Strong communication skills to interact with process supervisors. Knowledge of refrigerants and their properties under various conditions. Proficient in troubleshooting and making necessary repairs. Good record-keeping and computer skills. Experience with 120-volt controls, 480-volt, and 4160-volt electrical equipment. Ability to safely use all tools required for refrigeration unit maintenance. NFPA 70e certification and Universal Refrigeration license EPA 608 are a plus (required after hiring).Additional Requirements:
Initiative-taking individual with a flexible and available schedule, capable of handling high-demand situations. Willingness to follow all plant safety rules, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements. Successful candidate must pass required tests and acquire necessary licenses and certifications after hiring.Reporting: This position reports directly to maintenance and process supervision or off-shift supervisor.
