ABOUT CANNINGTON 

 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

 

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

 

As the Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration systems at the Cannington village and across Site, ensuring all equipment runs efficiently

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

Installing, maintaining, and repairing split systems, ducted air conditioners, and cold storage equipment. Interpreting blueprints and compliance schematics to execute repairs and installations. Troubleshooting and using testing devices to identify and resolve issues. Using SAP software to manage work orders, materials, and equipment maintenance. Work outside of your trade to assist other team members of the Site Services team with daily tasks.

 

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

 

Knowledgeable on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including installation and repair Strong communicator with a safety-first mindset, promoting risk reduction and following safety protocols Skilled in reading blueprints, compliance schematics, and technical documentation. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities for refrigeration & air conditioning systems. Proficient in braising, soldering, and working with HVAC systems

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

 

Trade (Cert 3 in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration) Refrigerant handling licence HVAC certification Class C or higher Drivers Licence
