The Regulatory Affairs Scientist will develop working knowledge and interpretation of basic food labeling regulations for US and Canada. Support the labeling development of US, Canada and international labels for beverages. Maintain and update existing labeling and documentation, accurately, per requirement, in a timely manner. Supports manufacturing, marketing and other customers labeling requests. This individual will work with Product Development scientists, Quality Personnel, Marketing Managers, Regulatory Affairs Managers, Legal Professionals, Sales Managers and customers, where required, on product launches, designs, regulatory advice on concepts. They have a responsibility to coordinate their work schedule based on the projects and deadlines.
Essential Functions:
Develop working knowledge and interpretation of basic food labeling regulations for US and Canada. Support the labeling development of US, Canada and international labels for beverages. Maintain and update existing labeling and documentation, accurately, per requirement, in a timely manner. Supports manufacturing, marketing and other customers labeling requests. Controls Regulatory label documentation, marks up and proofreads label text; prepares and approves vendor proofs. Performs administrative work for the RA department, orders office supplies, maintains Sharepoint for Regulatory documentation. Represents the department in meetings and interacts with various other departments in order to complete projects in a timely manner. Reviews and updates labeling SOPs and work instructions as needed, and writes label status reports.Required Skills and Competencies:
Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and industry practices for beverages (carbonated beverages, juice products, dietary supplements, alcohol products, drinks). Staying abreast of Regulatory labeling developments Regulatory evaluation of labeling concepts and designs. Filing Local, State, and Federal documentations as it relates product labeling. Be part of the Marketing work flow for label development Participate in discussion with regulatory authorities and industry organization as required by Director RA.Education and Experience:
Minimum BS in food science, nutrition, life sciences or related field or equivalent years of experience and training. 6 months to 1 year related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Experience in FDA regulated industry is preferred. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, be well organized, very detail-oriented and be able to work on several projects at one time. Must be computer proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and the internet. Working knowledge of SAP desired. Demonstrated initiative and creativity. Ability to be persuasive and assertive while also being collaborative.Working Conditions:
Physical-Continuously standing or walking. Visual/Sensory-This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time. Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive. Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.Other Duties:
