Directs nursing and clinical leadership in partnership with the regions executive leadership. Provides clinical leadership, consultation, and access to clinical resources for direct patient/resident care departments within each network facility. Responsible for providing professional, technical, clinical expertise to individual network facilities, field locations or field agencies, depending on department, as well as within network administration. Responsible for multiple states and must manage to multiple, distinct and differing regulatory requirements in all aspects of Long Term and Post-Acute Care.Job Description
Leads and coordinates the implementation of strategic nursing plan initiatives across the rural or field locations. Mentors and orients new nursing leaders to their roles; advises, counsels, and links them to internal and external resources. This role is a key driver of clinical operational change. Provies key hiring attributes in experience in a nursing leadership position in the rural or field setting. Works in conjunction with executive leadership to establish clinical practice standards and expectations pertinent to rural and/or field locations and to provide leadership and consultation in regards to nursing policies, procedures, nursing care delivery models. Effective, ongoing communication to advocate for nursing leadership needs in the field, and to support system change initiatives. Leadership and guidance to clinical services leaders of other patient/resident care departments. Leadership to clinical services professional networking peer groups in collaboration with leaders from within these groups and with leaders. Participates in creation and revisions for policies, procedures, and standards that describe and guide how the staff provides the appropriate clinical care. Integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines to achieve mutual patient/resident centered and organizational goals. Promotion of a practice environment that empowers staff to provide effective, compassionate and efficient care. Partners to achieve strategic initiatives focused on patient/resident centered, cross continuum care models, clinical quality and financial outcomes. Serves in a representative role through participation in various clinical or nursing workgroups. Will promote standardization and alignment of clinical practices and standards utilizing research based protocols and pathways. Responsible for the expertise and knowledge on Federal, State, and local laws regarding the clinical services provided in skilled nursing facilities. Research and remain current on pending and current local, state, and national health and safety laws, rules, and regulations, and working with other region support services.
Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing or health care related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in nursing required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).Demonstrated progressive nursing leadership experience; 5 years experience in a long term or post-acute care setting required. Previous experience as Director of Nursing in long term care preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
