Regional Division Head-Cardiac Anesthesiology
Job Summary Eligibility: Member of the Active Staff in the Regional Department of Anesthesiology Hold a Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship from a recognized institution Hold a clinical academic appointment with the University of British Columbia Compensation: Annual stipend of $27,000 The responsibilities of the Regional Division Head of Cardiac Anesthesiology shall include (but not be limited to) : Developing annual objectives for the Regional Division Functioning as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Division to keep members of the Regional Division informed regarding Division objectives, policies and general activities Developing, with the members of the Regional Division, standards of clinical practice for the Regional Division, recommending those standards to the Regional Department and ensuring that the Regional Division members work within established standards Ensuring that programs for the continuing medical education of Regional Department members are established Arranging and chairing Regional Division meetings as required If applicable, working with Universities to ensure that education programs and research activities are being sufficiently promoted and supported Promoting health and wellness amongst Members Encouraging a healthy, respectful workplace Investigating complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Regional Division under the direction of the Regional Medical Director of Anesthesiology Work collaboratively with Maternal Infant Child and Youth. Achieve integration, standardization and consolidation of obstetrical anesthesia services across the region. Establish and monitor standards/guidelines for obstetric anesthesia services in the region. Establish and ensure quality improvement in equipment specifically used in OB Anesthesia. Establish interdisciplinary quality improvement and risk management strategies by attendance of multidisciplinary meetings (eg. M&Ms) with OB/MFM, Fraser Health management and other stakeholders. Promote and be involved in teaching and research activities for Fraser Health and the University of British Columbia. Act as clinical support/resource in Obstetrical Anesthesia for the region. Organize Regional Rounds on important Obstetrical Anesthesia topics and integrate with the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology for joint rounds where appropriate. Lead/Develop and improve region-wide PPOs which are utilized by anesthesiologists in obstetrics. Advise and engage in faculty development across the region to promote Obstetrical Anesthesia. Advise and engage in site-specific development of labor/delivery wards and operating theatres as it pertains to Obstetrical Anesthesia.
