SummaryThe Regional Financial Manager provides leadership for all regional accounting and financial matters which includes but is not limited to working with Burg and project teams to assess project progress and results, monitor and adjust critical project activities, conduct regional financial review and analysis, and similar functions.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe Regional Financial Manager will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:
Works with “Burg” Managers to develop an annual business plan and associated budget Tracks and analyzes the budget on a monthly basis Monitors budget activity throughout the course of a project Works with project management team to assess project progress and results Monitors and reports bi-weekly on “suspect” projects Visits projects for the purpose of coaching and mentoring Project Managers as to the use and benefits of Vista ERP system, as well as the use of the long form and short form financial reports Communicates on a regular basis with Project Managers to track, monitor and adjust critical project activities Completes and distributes monthly financial statements (Budget–to–Actual Variance) to department heads in order to improve accountability Oversees the preparation of the Operations Reports, a monthly project-by-project status report forecasting anticipated cost-to-complete Reviews the WIP report Monitors aged A/R and initiates collection follow-up on slow pay accounts with Project Managers Conducts onsite, in depth, internal audit project reviews Manages the Transition process to ensure a successful transition from estimating to operations Manages the Post Review process to ensure a successful learning process Writes field checks Approves expense reports Approves invoices Adheres to and performs to the Job Management Process (JMP) Tracks administrative issue logs, project issues logs, and nonconformance log Establishes and oversees implementation of accounting controls and procedures on a regional basis. Acts as liaison between corporate accounting and operating regions Helps implement and affect corporate change initiatives. Develops procedures to ensure efficient administration of projects Carries out administrative functions of the department in accordance with Baker policies and applicable laws and regulations Requirements Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA and/or Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) sponsored by the CFMA, a plus. The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Accounting Technical Pronouncements, business-related periodicals, journals, and government regulations Knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically as pertains to construction contractors Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form Ability to communicate complex financial concepts and data in both written and oral form Must possess oral and written communication skills commensurate with the task of presenting complex financial concepts and data in a clear and concise manner to senior management groups of managers, clients, customers, and co-workers Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Understanding of Cost Accounting Working knowledge of the Viewpoint Vista system Ability to attain working proficiency with computers and Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and Access Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups Must possess strong customer service skills. Ability to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of fellow co-workers Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to understand the correlation between individual job success to region success and overall organizational success Must possess working knowledge of contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work Ability to understand the inter-relationship between operations, cost control, accounts payables, and accounts receivablesAt Baker Construction, we welcome those who are driven to make things happen.
