Our hybrid work environment combines the best of both worlds with at least three (3) days in office and up to two (2) days virtual for employees who live within fifty (50) miles of a Farmers corporate office. Job Summary

Responsible for oversight and management of legal defence, quality representation and business results within the assigned territory.  Oversees legal office operations in multiple sites throughout the state, panel counsel spend and legal vendor usage. Assists Head of Litigation with development of litigation department strategy, technology design/utilization and administration of legal management systems. 

Essential Job Functions

•    Accountable for legal office leadership and staffing
•    Business Partner(Claims) collaboration and insured/client  service expectations
•    Effective financial management using BLO business model
•    Determines all office/site location and real estate needs
•    Sponsor and implement positive continuous change across the department
•    Drive business results and legal office accountability for departmental objectives
•    Set and implement legal and business strategy for the assigned territory and Claims Litigation enterprise
•    Collaborates and communicates effectively with line of business partners, and stakeholders and others within the BLO for mutual success
•    Reduce and control LAE, both within the department and with panel firms
•    Assure quality practices through LEAP program oversight
•    Set and achieve trial expectations and results throughout organization
•    Oversees development and training initiatives and programs
•    Oversees IT needs and technology platforms
•    Responsible for employee engagement results, efforts and communication 
•    Serves as department head in absence Head of Litigation and assist with the operation of the department
•    Responsible for direct leadership of Divisional and Managing attorneys and  oversight and management of legal and support staff, including performance, talent management, training and development, talent acquisition, and rewards and recognition   
•    Engages in initiatives, processes, and policies that foster an inclusive culture, and enhances employee engagement and brand reputation
•    Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
 

Education Requirements

•    Bachelor Degree
•    Doctorate in Juris Prudence
•    License to practice law
 

Experience Requirements

•    10 years of litigation experience, with at least 5 years within an insurance Staff Counsel operation 
•    7 years of law office management experience
