This position can be based in the central region of the United States. It requires frequent traveling (50%) by plane to our 7 sites located in Central area. The plants are located in: Birmingham, Brook, Brownsville, Clarion, Eau Claire, Pryor, and Warrenton.
Under the leadership of the Vice President of Workplace Safety, your mission will be to contribute to the development and deployment of Cascades' standardized strategic plan for risk reduction and control. You will support its implementation by establishing an effective Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system to help eliminate injuries to our employees and contractors on our sites.
To achieve this, you will advise the management of our two business sectors on strategic directions to promote sound OHS management within the organization. With your team, you will act as a technical expert to provide OHS services across the organization. You will be responsible for monitoring processes and coordinating the implementation of OHS practices in line with the deployment of the uniform strategic OHS action plan across all our operational sectors.
Develop the strategic plan for Cascades in collaboration with the corporate team members and the operations management teams Participate in the seamless implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices, processes, and tools within the organization and their deployment in the units of your business sector. Collaborate in defining performance indicators and analyze the results monthly. Monitor best practices in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and advise the organization accordingly Coach and advance the management teams in their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) approach. Ensure the mobilization and development of the team under your responsibility, which includes approximately 7 OHS resources in the plant. Promote the proactive risk control strategy in OHS and act as a resource person in case of issues

Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role in heavy industry, pulp and paper or manufacturing Proven experience in implementing management systems, conducting audits, analyzing data, and coaching team members. Excellent communication skills, tact, managerial courage, and strong political acumen. Ability to translate complex issues into practical solutions. Strong collaborative skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders. Capability to assist team members in achieving their goals. Proficiency in supporting and advising business partners on occupational health and safety matters. Expertise in managing large-scale change and understanding its impact across all organizational levels and stakeholders. Agility in using various technological tools (Office, ERP, etc.)
