Regional HSE Manager Coatings

 

Preferred location in the main sites in Europe such as: Barcelona, Felling, Sassenheim, Como, Hilden.

 

In collaboration with the central CoE HSE&S design team, the Regional Manager HSE&S leads the deployment and delivery of the AkzoNobel HSE&S strategy, common platform across the manufacturing sites and warehouses within the respective region and BUs. 
They coordinate environmental legacy activities and provide expertise on risks and liabilities.

 

About the Job

 

HSE&S (80%)

 

Help develop the Global HSE&S Platform and Capability Building Framework, providing regional legal insights and best practices. Implement the HSE&S Framework regionally, ensuring alignment with AkzoNobel’s Leading Performance System and legal requirements. Function as Process Coaches in the AkzoNobel global process ownership model Identify and address regional business support needs in safety and environmental areas. Train and support management to reduce risks and achieve sustainability goals; develop and execute Safety Improvement Plans. Review and approve HSE&S aspects in CAPEXPro requests; conduct studies and risk analyses. Oversee regional corporate audits and ISO audits with support from HSE&S CoE; participate in audits and third-party selections.

 

Environmental legacy management (20%)

 

Provide support in the development and implementation of investigation and remediation strategies with a focus on cost-effective and practical solutions Involve negotiations with regulators and other stakeholders to deliver cost effective solutions for environmental liabilities Develop, negotiate and maintain project bids, contracts, budgets and schedules.

 

About you

 

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields; Master's preferred. Additional qualifications in Environmental and Health and Safety. 7-10 years of experience in HSE compliance and management. Experience in managing environmental projects from strategy to closure. Familiarity with local HSE&S regulations and audit processes. Strong strategic and execution skills. Continuous improvement mindset for processes and standards. Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong leadership and people management capabilities. Fluent in English with strong verbal and written skills.
