Your role

We are looking for a regional lineup editor whose main task will be to oversee the production of news content in formats specific to digital media, primarily in written form.

You will need to propose topics, write articles, and guide journalists in their work. You will be responsible for validating content and overseeing its publication across various digital information platforms. Additionally, you will manage the editorial selection that feeds the different content plans for digital platforms and distribution channels (mobile apps, websites, newsletters, social media, and others).

In this role, you will report to the deputy editor-in-chief for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and must adhere to the Journalistic Standards and Practices of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

For reference, this is an evening position (1:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.), although the schedule may vary based on production needs.

Specific responsibilities:

Follow current events from various news sources.

Determine topics and angles to cover in collaboration with the editorial team.

Coordinate the work of the digital newsroom team.

Review and oversee journalists' work before publication. Request corrections as needed. Identify sources and verify facts.

Research images and ensure the integration of necessary visual, graphic, video, or audio elements into content.

Monitor the evolution of news stories.

Ensure continuous updates to platforms under your responsibility.

Write notifications, texts, and headlines as needed.

Periodically conduct technological monitoring to identify best digital practices and technological innovations.

Use available tools to track content engagement.

Desired profile:

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Five (5) years of experience in journalism or equivalent

At least one (1) year of experience in a digital environment

Skills:

Strong and positive leadership

Broad general knowledge

Good knowledge of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area’s news

Excellent knowledge of current events

Excellent writing skills

Good communication skills

Knowledge of CBC's Journalistic Standards and Practices

Excellent command of French

Knowledge of English is an asset

Familiarity with digital trends and formats

Knowledge of content management tools (Scoop, Picto, etc.) and audio/video software such as Avid Newscutter, Dalet Plus, or Finalcut is an asset

Experience in team coordination is a plus
