Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.
+ 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.
+ Experience working on technology policy issues within Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky or Tennessee.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Experience in government relations, political campaigns, public affairs, external affairs in the region.
+ Experience working in state government or leading policy or public affairs work for third-party organizations (e.g., lobbyist or running campaigns).
As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
In this role, you will manage our various public policy and product-related agendas with policy makers.
Google Client Services, an entity within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, manages the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy in the United States. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspectives with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the Internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Identify policy issues that may affect Google, and understand the impact on Google business and users, and participate in policy campaigns with clear goals to shape a policy or set of policies.
+ Help create a positive regulatory environment to allow growth, protect products and promote a free and open internet. Help craft, monitor, analyze and influence state and local policy positions on current and future policy issues of importance to Google.
+ Educate stakeholders on Google's key policy positions and contributions and impact of products and services.
+ Work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profits and other organizations to promote and build support for Google's policy positions.
+ Develop community engagement strategies within the region to ensure Google continues to be an active and responsive corporate citizen.
