GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The Regional Operations Director (ROD) is responsible for the strategy, leadership, and management of multiple labs. The scope of the role may vary based on various factors, such as the number of labs being overseen, volume, the type of labs, and other factors. The volume of jobs per day is approximately <7k for Industrial and Proximity labs.

Oversight includes all the laboratory operations, which may include manufacturing, customer service, pricing and connected sales activities, and people management. The ROD is responsible for building a cohesive team of management staff dedicated to “best in class” business operations and customer service.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enforces policies and procedures for a safe and compliant work environment. This includes ensuring compliance with internal safety-related standards (e.g., EH&S) and external regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA). Reviews and analyzes data, trends, and needs to determine strategies needed to achieve expected results. Recommends and implements flexible strategies in manufacturing, operations, and people management to achieve expected results. Seeks and implements standards and best practices.  Leads financial and budget activities, such as budgets, forecasts, and targets, for maximum operational efficiency. Implements and leads changes to achieve expected results. Builds and develops the leadership team to ensure capabilities for executing operational strategies; this includes leading talent development practices (e.g., performance management and succession planning) for direct reports and enforcing development within the labs. Uses formal and informal communications to build excitement about the strategy and keep employees informed and motivated. Provides individual team members with challenging and clear performance objectives directly tied to the market and lab network strategy. Oversees individual Lab performance against company standards and objectives. Inspects what is expected. Drives execution of metrics through action plans and accountability. Partners with leadership to communicate progress and support and resources needed. Works with lab management to identify and implement optimal structure and core processes for the lab operations.  Implements and follows manufacturing policies & procedures in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, materials usage, shipping & receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, people management, and Key Performance Indicators focusing on continuous improvement. Facilitates vertical partnerships between labs, customers, sales, and market organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma/G.E.D. 10+ years of experience with leading others. 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or related environment. Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities. Must be able to travel as needed to meet the needs of the lab operations. Experience in a very high-volume environment with complex technical processes. Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field. Previous experience leading process improvement initiatives within a production environment utilizing Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma tools and processes.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
