This Global Operational Excellence leadership role is responsible for leading strategies, processes, methods, standards, key process indicators, training plans, and tools to drive a continuous improvement cultural transformation. The candidate will serve in an influencer capacity working with both local accountable and global strength stakeholders to identify and eliminate waste, improve efficiency, and meet customer requirements. The candidate will be focused on improving the end-to-end value stream for our products and processes in three categories: Supply Base; Series Production; and, Customer Specific Requirements. Each category, and subsequent initiatives, are not mutually exclusive from each other while the candidate will commence with the Supply Base performance.
Supply BaseDevelop the strategy, and process, to identify supplier lean improvement projects.Support suppliers with project selection that result in BOM cost reduction improvements.Conduct regular lean audits at suppliers to assess level of opportunities for short term improvements in areas such as productivity improvements, waste reduction, COPQ, etc…Work with suppliers on identifying their opportunities to reduce waste and improve operating inefficiencies.Train and coach suppliers on lean tools and lean methods that can be deployed to eliminate the 8 Forms of Waste and improve Operating Efficiency – driving a ZERO Waste paradigm.Identify, assign, manage, and report, on supplier cost reduction projects – including identifying broader support needs across the BU from GS and/or LA for project execution.Lead, and expand, supplier improvement projects outside of the China supply base – this will include identifying enablers, and resources, to realize targets for supply base savings in each region.Work alongside the SDE/SQE to coach them on lean methods and lean tools which builds a long term BOM strategy for the BU.Provide regular updates and report outs to the Charging for Value Steering Committee.Series ProductionSupports the BU OpEx strategy to ensure long term sustainability and profitability through continuous improvement, operational excellence and problem-solving training.Accountable for the Continuous Improvement (CI) plan targeted at realizing the BU P&L. Supports the Global OpEx Business Plan, OpEx Roadmap, and ten (10) Principle Pillars.Drives the OpEx Business Plan with the Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology to prepare, execute, measure and revise initiatives that drive progress and performance. Supports the strategy to identify opportunities to implement common processes and/or demonstrated best practices from other sites and businesses; disseminates and acts upon relevant industry and corporate benchmarking data.Customer Specific RequirementsWorks with all functional departments, assisting and training them on effective Problem Solving; this includes a problem-solving training strategy for the shop floor operator up through the Executive Leadership Team – drives a ZERO-Defect strategy.Employs visual management tools to inform stakeholders of progress or challenges; responsible to track, validate, prepare and report out on Key Driver and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Business Plan metrics (this includes predicted savings from CI Projects).Develops Corrective Action Strategy, Problem Solving Team and Tools required to eliminate waste and resolve customer claims.
