Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Regional Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the Optometrist with providing thorough visual examinations by performing preliminary testing, support duties, and post-exam follow-up. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for patient care, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, professional environment.

southfield west bloomfield bloomfield townshipmilfordlake orioncommercefarmington hillsResponsibilitiesAssist the Optometrist with visual examinations by performing preliminary tests.Take patients back, administer a specific series of tests, record results, and prepare them for the physician.Document patient medications and pre-set the phoropter in the exam room.Escort patients out of the exam room, set up recall, and transfer authority to the eyewear consultant.Perform visual preliminary testing, including visual screening, blood pressure, tonometer, auto refraction, and auto keratometry.Manage a typical patient volume of 10-25 patients per day.Essential SkillsMedical experience (Medical Assistant, Optometric Assistant, Medical Receptionist, etc.)Customer service experienceProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelHigh School DiplomaAdditional Skills & QualificationsPrior Optometric Assistant experiencePrior healthcare/patient care experienceExperience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Work Environment
The Regional Optometric Assistant will be onsite at retail Optimeyes stores, which house both physicians and assistants. The environment features state-of-the-art patient rooms and equipment, ensuring a clean and professional setting. Team members are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, with no cell phones, random breaks, or socializing during customer hours. The culture emphasizes a tight-knit, drama-free environment with a focus on delivering excellent customer service, aiming for top ratings from customer surveys. Assistants are required to wear black scrubs, which can be obtained from a medical store near the HFO in Sterling Heights. The team consists of about 30 people, including 7 Assistants on the schedule.
