BHMG - Physical Therapy Referral and Authorization

Patient Access Lead

In collaboration with the Physical Therapy leadership has responsibility for training, scheduling and daily management of Physical Therapy Patient Access Coordinators (PACs) within designated region.  This includes executing annual competencies, providing ongoing education based on department needs, and working in conjunction with the Supervisor to complete new orientation planning. This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining coverage at the front desk.  Ultimately, the goal is to ensure consistent training and workflow performance of PACs in area of oversight. 

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job.  This position may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for daily guidance and management of team.  Oversees the daily activities, workflow and competency of staff in assigned area to optimize customer service, ensure quality patient care.

Primary resource for support related to training, problem solving and front desk coverage.

Perform all administrative tasks related to patient access to ensure efficient and timely processes.

Random audits of patient registration, demographics and insurance information for training and education purposes.

Serves as backup for Patient Access Coordinators within designated service area. 

Models appropriate actions through professionalism when greeting patients or answering phones.

Obtain and accurately enter patient(s) demographics and insurance information.

Works with Supervisor to identify staff having performance concerns and discusses individual progress and next steps.

Works with Supervisor to establish a process to ensure that education activities are documented for the department and for individual staff members.

Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.

Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

High School diploma or GED required.  Associate’s Degree in business, finance, or healthcare related field preferred.Minimum of one year multi-provider and/or specialty medical practice experience preferred.EPIC experience strongly desired.
