Role/ Department:  Regional Payroll Consultant/NA HR Services

Under general direction, as a Regional Payroll Consultant you are responsible for day-to-day payroll production and completion of timely, accurate, and compliant assigned regional payrolls. You will also perform back up support and responsibilities for assigned payrolls and may review the work of other team members including but not limited to review of payroll data input and manual calculations. 

The key responsibilities of the role include:
• Performs daily payroll activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll production of assigned payrolls including complex and year-end activities
• Reviews payroll adjustment requests to ensure proper authorization and compliance with corporate policies, employment tax & other payroll-related laws; and advises management of appropriate corrective action when an error occurs
• Responds to payroll inquiries from all levels throughout the organization to explain pay, adjustments to pay, and impact of policies, tax law and related changes. Reviews the work of other team members including but not limited to review of data payroll input and manual calculations. Acquires knowledge of other team members’ payroll activities and performs back up support
• Analyzes existing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with tax & other payroll-related laws and regulations. Recommends and implements modifications of existing payroll processes to ensure compliance with requirements
• May be responsible for system/application testing (e.g., upgrades, tax updates, etc.) where applicable, and may participate in HR system or payroll implementations and other payroll projects and process improvements for assigned payrolls 
• Researches and monitors regulatory and legislative changes impacting payroll areas of responsibility to ensure ongoing compliance
• Responsible for input or review of country/regional metrics for assigned payrolls and any other applicable and/or requested management reports
• Serves a key subject matter expert and may coach and/or train Analyst and Associate Consultant level team members
• Handles all types of analysis and complex work
• Represents the department in various meetings Works on projects as requested and learning project management skills


Skills/Qualifications:
• 5 or more years of payroll required, preferably in multiple countries.
• Must be familiar with all aspects of payroll processing including payroll production, reconciliation. 
• Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and organizational skills to meet strict deadlines
• Able to multi-task in a high paced environment
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and focus on continuous improvements
• Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions with some guidance
• Knowledge of other areas of Human Resources & Finance, and their impact on payroll production activities

Working Model: Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid)
We have a balanced hybrid working model to ensure you get the flexibility you need, and the successful candidate will spend their time between working in the office and working from home.

Salary Range:

$74,200 - 126,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
