Regional Process Control Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will provide automation expertise to increase production and operational efficiencies while supporting legacy systems and troubleshooting beyond a mill’s capabilities. Works closely with maintenance, operations management, engineering, and IT.
MAJOR TASKS:
• Comply with all safety requirements and act as an example of safe practices on a consistent basis.
• Utilize InTouch Wonderware, Trend, and Data Acquisition to continually improve operational interfaces and KPI reporting metrics.
• Program Allen-Bradley, CTI, GE, and Mitsubishi PLC’s to assist mills with troubleshooting and reporting.
• Develop control schemes from scratch for new machine centers including hardware/software specifications and load requirements.
• Take the lead role in developing and implementing internal controls projects, working with local management, maintenance, and contractors.
• Advise electrical installations and upgrades while complying with codes and common practices.
• Be a resource to apprentice mill programmers, providing foundational methods and standards of programming.
• Be available to drive and support initiatives company-wide, requiring occasional domestic travel.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• A Licensed Electrician or bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or comparable experience with 5 years’ experience in a wood products environment preferred.
• Willingness to work towards the Electrical Supervisor License.
• Understanding and troubleshooting skills for pneumatic, hydraulic and robotic systems. Mechanical skills a plus.
• Strong math skills including algebra, calculus, and statistics is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong prioritization, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated and independently driven.
• Experience in Microsoft products.
