UFP Contruction is currently hiring for a Regional Production Engineer that will function as an internal consultant with regard to CI principles, the implementation of productivity increases, capital project installation, safety and ergonomic improvements, through process design, layout and machinery specifications.
Travel: 75% required, Monday-Thursday traveling (4 days/week), and on Friday, then working from home plant or home office.
Location: prefer candidate reside near one of these plants but not required:
Tooele, UtahChandler, ArizonaPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of the installation of capital projects and follows up as required.
Identifies and researches opportunities for productivity and safety related improvements.
Troubleshoots plants productivity issues as required.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of related machinery and equipment for possible operational applications and assist plants in machinery/equipment specification.
Procures approved and specified M & E as assigned.
Conducts machinery safety and guarding audits as required.
Conducts safety start-up checklists for new installations.
Evaluates plant manufacturing processes utilizing tools such as waste walks, value stream mapping, 5S, setup reduction, TPM to help identify areas of waste and opportunities for improvement.
Works with site personnel to help coordinate the CI training and project activities.
Acts as a conduit for sharing of successes, key learning’s, and other CI information.
Teaches, coaches, mentors all levels of employees on CI and Lean manufacturing principles.
Advises plants regarding availability and potential application of idle assets.
Reviews activities and goals periodically to insure contribution to overall goals and objectives.
Monitors assigned plants compliance to Company policies and procedures as they relate to the
Manufacturing environment.
Prepares various reports as required.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Preferred bachelor degree in an engineering relating discipline or equivalent
Working knowledge of manufacturing operations
Demonstrated working knowledge on Lean principles including: 5S, Kanban, standardized work, process flow, value stream mapping, setup reduction and Visual Factory
Preferred 3 to 5 years of experience in related areas
Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines
Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking
Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
Ability to apply business math to manufacturing processes, organize, and prioritize work
Requires great analytical, problem solving and mechanical skills/aptitude
Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, to prepare plans, goals and budgets.
Ability to be mobile in the work environment, travel as required.
Ability to use a computer and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business and engineer related software (AutoCAD)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated skill in leading project and other people
