Manage product quality systems for multiple plants within a business or product line. Assure compliance and continuity with company Quality policies and third party agency standards.Lead and support product quality enhancements, product and process development, and continuous improvement. Provide support in technical and process engineering (troubleshooting), efficiency improvement, and cost reductionacross assigned region. Lead regional Quality and Technical function to accomplish business and corporate objectives.
In this position you will have the opportunity to: Maintain and improve safety programs throughout region of responsibility, and ensure that plant quality department safety programs align with corporate and business safety programs. Provide leadership to Plant Quality Managers in region by effectively coaching, training, mentoring, and managing performance. Manage and coordinate Quality Management System to ensure product performance, promote continuity of product quality across plants and achieve continuous improvement in region or product line. Ensure consistent product inspection and testing procedures at each plant to support quality assurance compliance, cost reduction and continuous process improvement. Assure compliance with external and internal policies and procedures for finished product quality and control of non-conforming product for all plants within assigned region.. Provide technical, process support and analytical assistance (troubleshooting) to correct and prevent off-quality production and improve manufacturing efficiency. Support and/or lead the product and process development and enhancement, equipment improvement and capital projects, start-up support, cost reduction and efficiency improvement for all plants within assigned region. Support the implementation of new products by coordinating activities between R&D and plants. Develop, deploy, and ensure the execution of standardized testing procedures and methods. Ensure supplier quality assurance programs in place across region of responsibility as directed by Business Team. Implement and lead internal Quality audits, including follow-up. Ensure timely resolution and documentation of internal audit recommendations across region. Assess needs and lead the rollout of training programs to support the quality and technical activities of the region to accomplish business/corporate objectives. Ensure all process changes are done in accordance with company and third party certification policies and procedures. Provide support to Sales, Marketing and Customer Service as requested. Develop knowledge of competitor’s products, technology, process and market trends. Understand the business’ strategic plan and assure regional quality and technical alignment with plan. As directed by Business Team, participate in the R&D planning of new products, platform extensions, or process improvements. Monitor and analyze product claims to identify product and process deficiencies; implement corrective action as required. Frequent travel required. What do I need to be successful? 5 years’ directly related experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 4 years in the product quality related field. Experience in Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering is required. Knowledge of and ability to implement quality concepts and principles; knowledge base may include Quality Control and Assurance, Total Quality Management (TQM), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC) Demonstrated knowledge of the wood manufacturing process Demonstrated ability in project management Demonstrated ability in product and process development and change management Ability to operate a computer and supporting software Education Bachelor’s degree in Forest Product, Engineering, Science or related field. Advanced degree in same desirable. Adequate combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities.
