In September of 2017, Bob Evans Farms was acquired by Post Holdings, Inc. and is part of the Refrigerated Retail division. Other divisions of Post include Post Consumer Brands (Cereal), Weetabix (Cereal – UK), Michael Foods (Foodservice), and 8th Avenue Food & Provisions (Private Label). Post has aggressive growth plans for BEF, highlighted by the recent deployment of capital to support innovation, marketing and manufacturing. Responsibilities This role is part of the BEF Quality and Food safety Excellence Function. Reporting to the Senior Manager of QFSE Systems – this role has accountability for implementation and continuous improvement of Sanitation programs in the BEF Midwest Manufacturing facilities. The role is based out of any of the BEF Midwest manufacturing facilities. Develop and implement an effective sanitation program in all assigned plants (Schedule and SSOPs) that meets Bob Evans Foods internal standards & Policies while ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements. Continuously reviews and updates cleaning methods, executing best practices. Lead initiatives to establish sanitation standards across all assigned plants Monitor the infrastructure of the Sanitation program-including maintenance implements, equipment and structural elements. Ensure overall optimization of chemical usage by overseeing reporting and inventory performed by the Chemical Vendor and the Sanitation Manager on usage Integrates sanitation schedule and activities with overall Plant operations by partnering with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality & Food Safety (QFSE). Oversee the activities of the Sanitation teams- such as adherence to the master cleaning schedule, the SSOPs and required documentation as well as safety, food safety & good manufacturing rules, and employee safety rules. Ensure teams are resourced and supported to meet goals. Ensure overall optimization of chemical usage by overseeing reporting and inventory performed by the Chemical Vendor and the Sanitation Manager on usage Track and report metrics of Sanitation efficiency to stakeholders. Analyze metrics and identify sanitation related trends and identified and develop solutions for issues that have been escalated from plant level. Manage sanitation related tasks assigned as part of non-routine investigative, corrective or preventive action plans. Drive and develop new sanitation training initiatives and Sanitation Standard Operational Procedures (SSOP). Responsible for overall adherence to safety programs and policies Facilitate the development and leadership of the Sanitation Manager at each assigned plant. Ensure the Sanitation Supervisors are adequately trained to fulfill their duties. Back-up to plant sanitation supervisors. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Degree or diploma in a field that ensures understanding of food science & food safety principles. Experience in Food Manufacturing (minimum of 5 years) - with an understanding of Industry standards and best practices Familiarity with Regulations governing Sanitation GMP’s, food safety, and quality. Certification in HACCP & PCQI preferred. Familiar with Seven Steps of sanitation, HACCP principles and how they apply at the facility Enter Data into BEF documentation systems Able to effectively communicate data and information to stakeholders and deliver on-the job training to the team on all SSOPs. Must know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and outlook for capturing data and communicating information. Must understand safe use and technical data sheets for all sanitation chemicals used. Shows initiative- self-motivated to schedule and complete tasks Capable of remote learning through online resources Capable of communicating to and collaborating with stakeholders remotely.
