THE JOB:

The K-9 Senior Manger serves as the primary kennel master and is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of the kennel facility to include the day-to-day operations and oversight of K9 Managers and K9 Handlers. The K-9 Manager is also responsible for imprinting and training newly acquired detection dogs, as well as overseeing and conducting continuous weekly training exercises for all K-9 Handlers. In addition, the K9 Senior Manager will serve as the Corporate Security K9 Department head and carry out the direction, mission, and duties directed by the Executive Director of Special Operations on behalf of MGM Resorts International. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures.


THE DAY-TO-DAY:

Facility Management:Oversee daily operations of the kennel, ensuring all areas are properly maintained and sanitized.Canine Team Evaluation:Conduct technical assessments of K9 teams, making recommendations for continued training, skill enhancement, or adjustments to ensure proficiency in detecting explosives/firearms.Staff Management:Manage schedules, conduct reviews, and oversee performance evaluations of all K9 staff members.Selection and Training of Detection Dogs:Assess and select new dogs for the program.Coordinate and lead weekly training for explosive and firearm detection skills.Canine Health and Welfare:Maintain health and welfare protocols for dogs, ensuring regular veterinary checkups and record-keeping for health documentation.Supervise feeding, hydration, and general care of the dogs according to established policies.Sanitation and Safety:Supervise cleaning and disinfecting procedures for all areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment.Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of explosive training aids.Record Maintenance:Keep accurate and up-to-date records of training, licenses, and permits.Emergency Response:Provide emergency first-aid for dogs when necessary.Act as a First Responder in emergencies.Customer Service:Offer excellent service to clients and employees.Other Duties:Be available for on-call hours and perform additional job-related tasks as needed.This role demands a strong background in canine care and training, specifically in detection work, as well as skills in management, organization, and emergency response.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

·       Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

·       2 years of experience of prior relevant experience as a K9 Trainer

·       Ability to work varied shifts to include weekends and holidays

·       Ability to travel 25-50%

·       Strong teamwork and communication skills.

·       Able to plan and coordinate work with vendors, contractors, and other internal departments.

·       Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills

Pay Range:

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum - Maximum

$89,200.00 - $133,900.00

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s incentive plan.
