**Job Description**
**Job Summary** **:** The Director of Store Operations is ultimately responsible for leading, developing and positively motivating store and area leaders, ensuring profitability of the stores within the region and driving processes. The Director of Store Operations implements solutions that assist stores in achieving business and team goals that are aligned with Wawa’s strategy and priorities.
Principal Duties:
+ Develop a strong pipeline of talent in order to meet growth and drive sustainable succession planning. Lead, manage and develop store and field associates by developing aligned teams along with individual business and career goals.
+ Achieve profitability of stores by establishing and gaining alignment on budget goals and store metrics. Leverage key operational metrics that drive revenue, influence priorities and deliver a premium customer experience.
+ Implement corporate programs to be executed consistently. Prepare operations for new initiatives to ensure long term sustainability. Review success metrics and performance against those metrics. Ensure core competencies and operations standards are in place when new programs are rolled out. Measure the execution of established best practices to drive consistent operational excellence in the stores.
+ Analyze Health of the Business results and financial versus budget and standards and take corrective action as necessary.
+ Implement programs that create a safe and secure environment for associates, customers and vendors, protecting people, profit and brand.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with internal corporate departments and external vendors on regional opportunities and challenges. Fully understand Red Roof organizational structure in order to act as the conduit between stores and corporate
+ Manage rollout of corporate initiatives, gaining buy in and support from AMs (leadership teams). Lead change management and implementation of corporate programs to ensure sustainability, and provide current feedback on current state issues and challenges. Ensure execution is implemented as designed.
+ Act as the lead for monthly Regional and General Manager store tours in which the main focus is to demonstrate Wawa’s best practices and keep an open dialogue with front line associates. Review financial and standards results, along with regional and corporate plans. Discuss with AM and GM’s their workforce planning processes, needs and plans to ensure staffing and pipeline development.
+ Participate in portfolio management processes along with key decision-making processes of the regional team, including communicating the needs and opportunities to supporting staff and conducting meetings and tours. Provide “reality check" on pro formas when opening new stores in the region.
+ Effectively develop, manage and lead Area Managers. Provide guidance and motivate Area Managers to obtain results, both at the store and area level.Provide overall direction and support for team and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.
+ Ensure the implementation of Company organizational strategies, goals and objectives to ensure efficient operations. Establish written objectives/strategies with individual Area Managers relative to area. Support Area Managers in the accomplishment of their goals and objectives though ongoing coaching and development.
+ Ensure that all aeas are properly staffed and operated effectively in accordance with Company standards. Assist the Area Managers in selecting General Managers.
+ Review and approve the annual budgets for the region. Monitor the region’s performance, by area, relative to the strategies and the related budgeted goals and objectives. Support the Area Managers in their efforts to manage sales and operating expenses
+ Provide orientation and initial training of Area Managers; ensure Area Managers understand Company policies and procedures, and best practices. Ensure that all employee training needs are assessed, and necessary training programs are designed and implemented to meet those requirements. Evaluate and approve any outside training for Area Managers

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred – Master’s Degree a plus
+ Demonstrated servant leadership skills
+ 10 years of retail management experience
+ Proven track record of developing people, and leading and building teams
+ Food service leadership experience preferred
