Regional Technician Director - Los Angeles, CA

VCA is looking for our next Regional Technician Director, a dedicated professional joining our team to spearhead the growth and advancement of veterinary technicians and assistants within the Southern California Group. As the driving force behind our commitment to exceptional care, the Regional Technician Director will align with VCA's mission and medical initiatives. The focus will be on elevating medical quality, fostering team collaboration, ensuring patient safety, and continuing to train and enhance our technicians. Crafting a roadmap for career progression and enhancing team retention will also be key aspects of the role within the VCA family.

Working in synergy with our Field Leaders, the Regional Technician Director will orchestrate the accomplishment of these goals. Collaborating closely with Medical Operations, they will strengthen our healthcare delivery. This role encompasses the mentorship, leadership, and medical advancement of veterinary technicians and assistants within the Southern California Group. Note: This role is a remote position; however, the ideal candidate will be based in the Greater Los Angeles, California and have the ability to spend up to 65% of their time in hospitals.

Responsibilities:

Assess each hospital’s needs for tech/assistant education, training and policy implementation in collaboration with field team; Develop relevant training tools and development plans; Consult with hospitals directly, improve patient workflow and help doctors better utilize and leverage their techs; Work with Field Leaders to understand group, regional and individual hospital training needs; Work with Medical Operations and Knowledge & Learning team implement educational initiatives

Assist with recruiting efforts at local career fairs, national conferences, and colleges; Show external techs a career path within VCA; Advocate for and exemplify involvement in the community/industry to cultivate our reputation; Participate in local, state, and national technician groups and meetings

Foster enthusiasm at the grass roots level for learning and career growth in all technician and assistant staff; Encourage involvement in outside animal related causes to enhance job satisfaction; Engage Associates through recognition and motivation; Support Technician Supervisor development to help them succeed and grow in their roles through mentorship and resources; Provide a clear path and encourage career progression through VCA’s Technician & Assistant Career Progression Program; Partner with VCA People & Organization Team to enhance and/or create career path and retention programs and strategies for Technicians and Assistants

Work with local colleges to promote externship sites; Support the VCA national agreement for tech and assistant schools; Strengthen relationships with local AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology programs.

Work in cooperative group with other Regional Technician Directors and Medical Operations, to develop educational resources and training opportunities to establish standards of Quality Medicine, Patient and Team Safety; Implement collaborative training resources for Technician and Assistant staff in both Primary Care and Specialty areas, in conjunction with the local Area Technician Manager and in cooperation with Medical Operations; Checklists for training and career path through the Technician & Assistant Career Progression Program; function as recruiting resources.

Fulfill other related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

Active RVT/CVT, required.

5+ years as a licensed technician.

Experience with public speaking, supervising direct reports, adult education, preferred.

Special Working Conditions

Travel up to 65%

Flexibility in schedule and hours of availability to support hospital operation schedule.

Additional Information 

Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$115,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
