Regional Transportation Lead

Role Summary: 

As a Regional Transportation Lead, you will be an integral member of the TireHub team working in a fast-paced and dynamic operational environment, to consistently exceed established goals, demonstrate a commitment to customers and a dedication to excellence and innovation.  In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision of our managed freight partners with overall responsibility for tactical execution of transportation activities to include load tendering, carrier assignment, appointment scheduling and on time delivery execution. Rate management, accessorial cost control and holding carrier partners accountable for service expectations will also be a part of this position. This role requires a self-managed individual who is an excellent communicator, solutions-driven, and possesses a strong attention to detail to deliver a world class customer experience. This role will report into the National Transportation Manager – based at our Dallas/Ft Worth Regional Distribution Center – working closely with that leader and other team members across the organization to oversee the execution of TireHub’s logistics strategy which complements the overall strategic operating and growth plans of the Company.

Role Specifics:

·         Supervise managed transportation partners to ensure they are meeting the needs and goals of the organization and delivering best in class service to our customers.

·         Work closely with the RDC team to assist, teach, coach, mentor, and de-conflict any potential obstacles specific to transportation and the impact of the movement of inventory on operations.

·         Ensure all business and customer requirements for load movements are met, optimizing equipment, and managing tight timelines to exceed 90% on time delivery.

·         Conduct TLC visits and calls to stay current with operational challenges driven by inbound loads or any other transportation-related issue the field may be experiencing.

·         Utilize relationships and system tools to understand market rates and trends to get the best transportation value for the organization.

·         Access all required system applications and tools to perform job duties accurately and timely.

·         Develop, document, and communicate transportation SOP’s.

·         Identify, lead, or participate in project work as required.

Experience:

·         College degree in supply chain, business, financial or other applicable focus area preferred.

·         3-5 years of transportation experience specifically with managed freight partners.

·         Working knowledge of TMS and an understanding of TMS systems capabilities.

·         Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.

·         Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written format to all levels of leadership.

·         Ability to give and receive feedback.

·         You may be the only Transportation subject matter expert working amongst others from multiple work functions.  As such, being a self-starter who takes initiative and is self-disciplined in not having direct, in-person supervision is critical.

·         Accountable, solution-oriented with a positive approach.

 

Work Environment:

This is a fast-paced and dynamic operating environment.  The Regional Transportation Lead typically works in an office and warehouse setting but will also spend time in the field conducting site visits engaging with Field Operations Leaders. Occasional travel will be required and the flexibility to work non-standard hours to accommodate project requirements and business needs may be necessary from time to time.
