Registered Dietitian

Job Purpose or Objective(s): As a Registered Dietitian you will be responsible for coordinating normal and therapeutic nutrition services for ambulatory clinics and programs to maintain and improve the nutritional health status of those patients receiving the services.  You assure the nutritional needs of the individual patients are being met and that all documentation, as it relates to the patient's nutritional status, is complete and accurate.  You will report to the Director.

Primary Tasks:

1.      Manage the development and implementation plan for nutrition interventions in accordance with the Nutrition Care Process.

2.      Assess nutrition education needs and the presence of barriers to learning.

3.      Provide nutrition counseling for individuals and groups, taking into consideration any adaptations to teaching methods necessary to meet patient learning needs.

4.      Use assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.

5.      Provide appropriate follow-ups in accordance with the patient’s treatment goals.

6.      Work with medical and dietary staff to ensure conformance to prescribed nutrition care orders.

7.      Provide appropriate and timely documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in a patient’s medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, interventions, and progress towards goals.

8.      Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

 Required Education and Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

·       Completed a didactic program in dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

·       Licensed Dietitian in the state of Oklahoma or become licensed within 6 months of employment

·       Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
