Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technicians use specialized equipment and processes to monitor a patient's nervous system activity. They set up, perform, and monitor EEG tests which record the electrical activity of a patient's brain over time. EEG Technicians work under the supervision of epileptologists, neurologists, or other doctors. **A caregiver in this position works 7am - 3:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays** A caregiver who excels in this role will: * Perform routine testing procedures on patients. * Prepare for testing by properly checking the calibration of apparatus and ensuring adequate supplies are on hand. * Review patient's clinical data to understand why they have been referred for testing. * Attempt to put patients at ease by ensuring their physical comfort and explaining the testing procedure. * Administer peripheral and cerebral vascular doppler examinations, including arterial studies of the upper and lower extremities. * Recommend sedation as appropriate and administer sedation as prescribed. * Perform EEGs, nerve conduction velocity testing, sensory nerve conduction velocity testing, visual and auditory evoke potential, and color velocity imaging evaluation. * Utilize formulas to calculate test results. * Monitor intraoperative studies utilizing EEG's, EP's and NCV's as indicated. * Assist in analysis test results for diagnosis. * Clean and maintain all equipment. * Schedule patients, answer telephones and perform various clerical and other similar or less skilled duties as needed. * Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: * High school diploma or GED and completion of some college classes. * Registered EEG Technologist. * One year of experience. * Ability to do work requiring attention to detail to avoid inaccurate test results. * Ability to use technical physiological test equipment.
