Unit Description
The Baptist Health Lexington Mother/Baby Unit is comprised of 42 private rooms and is staffed by skilled and compassionate nurses who specialize in providing a high level of patient-centered postpartum care for both mom and baby. Our newborn nursery is staffed by two newborn assessment nurses (NANs) and our patients receive breastfeeding guidance from staff along with our knowledgeable certified lactation consultants. Many members of the team have received extra training and certification in maternal and newborn care. Our focus is assisting families in getting the best start possible and making the transition to home as smooth as possible through the provision of quality care, education, and support.

Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines.The Registered Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
Current RN licensure or work permit in KentuckyBachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university or an associate degree with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience required. (In lieu of a bachelor’s degree and less than ten years’ experience, an associate degree in nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understanding that the individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.)Basic Life Support ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.Benefits:
