No County To Be Determined Street Address NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision City Albany, Buffalo (Alden, NY), Groveland, Dannemora, Wallkill, Long Island City, and Fishkill, NYC State NY Zip Code 12226 Duties Description Registered Nurse 3 (Utilization) conducts medical chart reviews, audits, facility site visits, reporting and other specific tasks to identify deficiencies in care and improve the quality-of-care delivery to individuals within the Department’s care and custody. Performs fact-finding functions in the evaluation of health care provided on individual cases, including identifying specific deficiencies and identifying system-wide problems. May participate in individual mortality reviews and quality improvement meetings with administration; assist with investigations of medically related unusual incidents; and perform various other specific duties related to the primary functions. Review individual cases to ensure care provided is consistent with applicable professional and community standards and uses resources appropriately. The RN will join OSI investigators when conducting interviews in which medical information will be discussed. Provides both oral and written feedback related to findings. Works with, meets with, and/or serves as a liaison to, other staff within the Office of Special Investigations, the Department, and/or distinct organizational units of DOCCS as directed and appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse 3 (Utilization) Open Competitive: possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience of which one year was in utilization review and/or discharge planning. Substitution: a bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.OSI investigative staff must also possess, at a minimum, knowledge of the applicable laws, the highest levels of behavior including personal integrity and ethics; fairness; character; judgment; attitude; and respect for and ability to work with others inside and outside OSI. The ability to travel is also necessary.
