Registered Nurse 3 - UVa Student Health & Wellness
The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health and Wellness, Medical Services clinic is currently seeking a Registered Nurse 3 to deliver comprehensive professional nursing care to UVA students.

Working as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to both non-acute and acutely ill students, in addition to students seeking health maintenance services. The incumbent ensures compliance with physician orders and follows established nursing processes, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. They exercise judgment and decision making in their daily work. Work is somewhat independent and performed according to established protocols.

Responsibilities include:

Assess patients using nursing skills to evaluate vital signs, breath sounds, and any specific observations needed.Perform specific therapeutic interventions that assist medical evaluation.Read and synthesize information from patients' files, which may include medical histories, prescribed medications, vital sign readings, and clinical observations, to learn about patients' conditions, determine patients' care priorities, and prepare test requisitions according to physicians' specifications.Communicate patient status and changes in patient condition as appropriate, and collaborate with nursing supervisor to address complex issues.Supervise CNAs and LPNs.In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's of Science degree, or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Experience: At least five years of experience as an RN.
Licensure: Registered Nursing license and CPR certification.

About the Position:

The anticipated salary range is $44.00 - 48.00/hour commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is an nonexempt-level, overtime eligible position with UVa benefits. Employees’ benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:

Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling (distance: 1 – 2 miles/day), climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs.

This position may be exposed to electric current while working on electronic equipment, exposed to extreme temperatures in steam tunnels and required to stand on different surfaces.
