The Eye Center of St. Augustine is proud to be the oldest and largest state of the art eye care center in the area offering the convenience of an eye center, a surgery center, and an optical shop all under one roof. With satellite locations in World Golf Village, Palm Coast, and Palatka, our board-certified doctors provide premier best in class care to patients across Northeast Florida. Our ophthalmic surgeons, perform cataract, laser, and ophthalmic plastic surgery on site in our state-of-the-art Eye Surgery Center. We are also able to provide eye examinations for adults as well as children over the age of seven while offering a full-service optical shop at each of our locations. Position Summary

We are now hiring a Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to support the clinic’s goals of providing each patient with a positive experience while receiving quality comprehensive eye care from the providers.

 

The Registered Nurse provides ongoing assessment and nursing care to patients in the facility in accordance with Physician’s orders, policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of practice. Participates in the teaching of patients and family and provides leadership by working cooperatively with the other health care team members. Collaborates with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Responsibilities Observing facility policies, procedures, and processesPreparing patients for the planned procedureObtaining the patient’s medical history, including medications, allergies, and reactionsCarrying out physician’s ordersObserving the patient’s medical condition including vital signs, affect, pain, and symptoms requiring further evaluation and treatment, and escalating concerns to the physicianCommunicating to the patient and the care team in an effective mannerRelaying information to appropriate personnel concerning a patient’s condition Educating the patient including providing instructions in preparation for dischargeAdministering medications per physician orderAppropriate documentation of careSupervising non-licensed personnel as assigned Maintaining appropriate supplies and medicationAssisting with the preparation and performance of proceduresAssisting in medical records maintenanceUtilizing safe practices and controls to protect patients and self from infection and exposureMaintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all timesMaintaining patient’s rightsMaintaining positive and effective interpersonal relationshipsReporting and documenting any unusual occurrences and incidents in a timely mannerUtilizing proper body mechanics while liftingServing as a clinical resourceDemonstrating professional accountabilityOther duties as assigned Qualifications High school graduate or GED certificate recipientGraduate of accredited school of nursingActive RN license in the state where work will be conducted.BLS and ACLS certificationCurrent Pre-op/PACU experience (within past 2 years) Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.Demonstrates primary nurse accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.Must be able to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement direct patient care.Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care.Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized, and cost-effective manner.Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment.
