JOB SUMMARY
Hospice Registered Nurses provide professional nursing care for terminally ill patients to maintain their comfort and quality of life. A hospice nurse serves as a case manager and advocate for their patients and primary caregivers. This includes: keen observation skills, high ethical standards, critical thinking skills, compassion, attention to detail, organizational skills, calm under pressure, patience, and compassionate communication skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (ADN/Diploma) Minimum Work Experience Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse Current CPR Current Driver’s License Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position Accountable for the regulatory functions and duties of the Hospice Registered Nurse Deals effectively with community/consumers Demonstrated advocate of quality and cost effective care Understand the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families Must be knowledgeable of quality assessment and performance improvement activities Compose applicable policies and procedures Audit, monitor, and retrieve data Coordinate meetings Proven written and editing skills Strong computer skills Requires ability to handle confidential information Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills Demonstrates interpersonal skills
