Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health - 7 pm
The behavioral health (BH) registered nurse (RN) provides and coordinates holistic care of the patient through honoring patients’ mind, body and spirit while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual. Professional nursing practices are rooted in evidence while being guided by organizational policies/procedures, regulatory standards and professional guidelines. Nursing excellence is the foundation of the nurse-patient relationship and is exemplified by positive patient outcomes, ongoing professional growth and development, and collaborative relationships with other disciplines.
The BH RN is an exemplar for clinical excellence, professionalism, compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy. RN clinical proficiency is based on a sound knowledge base together with the understanding of the theories and science of nursing practice. Further, RN clinical decision-making incorporates the four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration. As the nursing care team lead, the registered nurse must have the ability to delegate appropriate work to patient care techs, licensed practical nurses, unit secretaries, and students while taking responsibility for the work delegated. The BH RN has knowledge, training and skill sets specific to populations of people with mental health and substance use diagnoses.
