Unit Successes/Designations:

2023 Beacon Designation Structured support for new nurses to transition through their first 2 years from novice to expert; integrating into our open-heart recovery program.  Supporting our local community to provide quick STEMI recovery and comprehensive post-arrest care along with a multitude of cardiac procedures. Multiple staff members who have presented at national conferences. Constant professional development with the highest number of certified nurses amongst our inpatient units with 3 different certificate subspecialties. Our team! Working together to deliver high quality care to the sickest patients at the hospital.

Unit Culture:

A collective of highly motivated nurses dedicated to learning and evolving critical care nursing. Structures and support in place from orientation through certification in the first 1-2 years as a CIC Nurse A unit that highlights peer and managerial support to help lift each other and deal with the unique stress of working in a critical care environment. Democratic staff input through our Unit Based Council who impacts and shapes work on CIC. 

Qualifications 

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
