Position Summary 

The Registered Nurse- Cardiology is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The RN acts as patient advocate and patient/doctor liaison, provides patient education regarding medications, pacemakers, defibrillators, cardioversion and miscellaneous EP related procedure. Other duties include but are not limited to:

Implement, coordinate and manage office-based Pacemaker Clinic including interrogation of pacemakers, scheduling parameters, recall guidelines and overall patient flow. Assist with hospital rounds for all EP consults; ensure pertinent medical data is available for physician review; provide patient education related to procedure and obtain signed consents. Assist with office patient flow, perform EKG’s, venipuncture, vitals and patient monitoring.  Coordinate the flow and follow-through of all office-based EP patients and services.  Ensure adherence to all federal and state compliance guidelines. Screen chart for possible medication interactions, write prescriptions for physician signature, authorize refills, act as liaison with insurance companies. Review correspondence and testing results to help facilitate needed action, communicate with hospitals and other physician offices to provide patient information, schedule evaluations and procedures. Verify home health order changes, treatment and equipment certificates of medical necessity prior to obtaining physician signature.

Position Requirements  

Current BLS & ACLS certification with American Heart Association required One to three years experience in a medical office setting preferred At least five years nursing experience with two years of cardiology/electrophysiology experience. 

Education

Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of residence   Willing to maintain 6 CEU’s per year
