**Department: PPH** **Daily Work Times: Variable PST 6am-VST 6am-10am** **Shift: Variable** **Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 0** **Position Summary:** Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan **PPH:** 1. Possess ability to perform various interviewing and assessment techniques to identify potential/actual problems related to anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure. Consult anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills. 2. Demonstrates knowledge of ASA and Anesthesia Guidelines. 3. Utilize and troubleshoot specialty equipment (blood glucose monitor, IV pumps, vein finder, ARJO lift, EKG machine) in an independent, safe manner. **_Required:_** + Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan. + BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification. + Must satisfactorily complete the first available Basic Dysrhythmia course + Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course within one year of hire/transfer (PPH/PACU/PMCS/ENDO MINOR PROCEDURES) + Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent + Minimum one (1) year of comparable experience for the unit they are hired into. + Must possess the same qualifications as required by regular staff in the unit to which they have been hired. **_Preferred:_** + Previous experience in Surgical Services area + Proficient in IV starts + PALS (PACU) **Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans** We are committed to encouraging and sustaining a work environment free of unlawful harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation.
