Job Description:JOB SUMMARY

The RN/Clinical Coordinator functions as a vital member of the healthcare team who contributes to the success of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) by demonstrating customer/patient focus, effective communication, professionalism and self-development, and teamwork. S/he utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care provided to selected patient populations and their families. This individual demonstrates excellent clinical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and makes decisions consistent with MCHS policies, department protocols/guidelines, and the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act.

In addition, the RN/Clinical Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating staff education; taking the leadership role in the development, initiation, and coordination of department or clinical care initiatives; and developing, coordinating, and implementing quality improvement efforts surrounding PDSA work to improve department processes and patient care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred/Optional: None

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: A minimum of five years’ nursing experience. Must be experienced in the process of critical inquiry to improve nursing practice.

Addiction: The minimum five years of experience must include at least three years of addiction nursing experience.

Neurology: The minimum five years of experience must include at least three years of specialty care nursing experience (preferably in Neurology or Neurosciences).

Nurse Line: Telephonic nursing experience preferred. Must be able to provide, manage, and evaluate nursing care provided to the Nurse Line patient population.

Oncology: The minimum five years of experience must include at least three years of Oncology nursing experience.

Care Management: Telephonic nursing experience with population health is preferred. Must be able to provide, manage, and evaluate nursing care provided to the patient populations such as Heart Failure/COPD.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months hire.

Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location).

Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).

Addiction RN/Clinical Coordinator Additional Requirements:

Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN)

Oncology RN/Clinical Coordinator Additional Requirements:

Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course certification completed within first year of employment.

ACLS certification required within first year of employment for those performing conscious sedation (varies by location).

OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) required; if not current, must pass certification exam and receive certification within the second year of employment.

Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital required as needed.

Membership in the National Oncology Nursing Society required upon employment.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
